UKRAINE – FRANCE | 2022 – 2024
A blurred point of light was broadcast on France Culture on February 24, 2024, two years to the day after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
This radio creation, conceived by Ukrainian journalist Evgenia Rudenko and French director Alexandre Plank, was written and recorded by and with Ukrainian authors, writers, actors, journalists and sound engineers living under the bombardments, on the front or in exile.
This project is the result of a long period of work with men and women to whom we wanted to give the means – human, technical and financial – to recount and archive the day-to-day life of a country at war. Through radio, we wanted as many people as possible to hear their texts (some of which were written and sent to us by SMS from the front line), their voices (sometimes recorded with a simple telephone) and their stories (which capture the way in which war sets ablaze what is most intimate in us).
The texts you’ll hear were written especially for this program by Ukrainian authors, scriptwriters, poets and playwrights. The documentary parts were recorded with civilian populations between Lviv, Kyiv and Boutcha. The Ukrainian actors were recorded in Ukraine or in France, where they live in exile. Each of the sounds and soundscapes that make up this creation were recorded in different cities across Ukraine by Ukrainian sound engineers.
