THE BLUE BOX
A PROJECT AND A PODCAST SERIES IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE DUTOT HOSPITAL IN PARIS.

WORK IN PROGRESS

PARIS, FRANCE / 2021-2022

The Blue Box is a project carried out in partnership with the Dutot psychiatric center in Paris, a day hospital for children between 4 and 16 with severe psychopathological disorders.

Many children who are on the autistic spectrum are scared to talk, scared that their words might escape them and vanish into thin air. This fear affects their ability to speak, to express ideas and build their own thought processes. Audio recordings make words tangible: we can grab them, listen to them, once or a hundred times, and collect them. They are no longer lost. The Radiobox, our Blue Box, then becomes a word-keeper. The secure space it creates is an opportunity for these children to express themselves in a way they couldn’t before and an opportunity to practice an artform that we seldom hear about: Sound creation.

After a long series of workshops, 10 podcast episodes created with children and the team of the Dutot hospital will be made available on the web.
