HEARING BOBIGNY

BOBIGNY | 2022 – 2025

Located 3 km north of Paris, Bobigny is the administrative capital of Seine-Saint-Denis. With a population of 54,000, once predominantly working-class, it now has a poverty rate of 34%. Long a Communist stronghold, Bobigny is a multicultural, dense and complex territory.

Bobigny à l’écoute is a long-term podcast project, a documentary series spanning several years. Led by Fabienne Laumonier and Thomas Guillaud-Bataille, it aims to portray the city through its inhabitants and symbolic places, from different points of view and with different narratives. We look at the workings of institutions (schools, police, justice, municipalities, churches, mosques, sports clubs, etc.) as well as less official organizations, such as mutual aid and trafficking networks.

A MOSAIC,
IN THE LONG RUN

Bobigny à l’écoute explores the changes taking place in a city undergoing complete renovation, Bobigny à l’écoute in collaboration with local residents, with the aim of creating a collective work, transcending barriers of class, identity or background, to better weave the diversity of stories emanating from a territory.

A project by Fabienne Laumonier and Thomas Guillaud-Bataille created with the support of the French Ministry of Culture and the MC93.
