ABIDJAN, IVORY COAST | 2021-2024
Africa Through Tales is a program designed to collect, in French and local languages, tales from historical heritage and contemporary imaginary worlds, and make them accessible to as many people as possible in the form of podcasts and audio fictions. Together with children, teachers, librarians, storytellers and actors, we will record the tales in Ivoirian libraries and schools.
This program is carried out in close collaboration with education, culture and media specialists to encourage children and teenagers to read, engage in spoken word, share knowledge and practices across generations. It is also a way to make a program and podcast catalogue for schools, libraries and radio stations in Côte d’Ivoire, Western Africa, and throughout the French-speaking world. To that aim, Radioboxes will be set up in libraries in the suburb of Abidjan, librarians will be trained to use them and produce radio content. With the children and the schools they work with, these libraries will gather, record, promote and broadcast stories to share with as many people as possible.
