AFRICA THROUGH TALES
STORIES AND TALES FROM CÔTE D’IVOIRE

ABIDJAN, CÔTE D’IVOIRE / 2021-2024

Africa through Tales is a series of podcasts and radio drama where a wide audience will find a collection of stories taken from historical heritage and our contemporaries’ imagination, in French and in local languages. Together with children, teachers, librarians, storytellers and actors, we will record the tales in Ivoirian libraries and schools.

This program is carried out in close collaboration with education, culture and media specialists to encourage children and teenagers to read, engage in spoken word, share knowledge and practices across generations. It is also a way to make a program and podcast catalogue for schools, libraries and radio stations in Côte d’Ivoire, Western Africa, and throughout the French-speaking world.

To that aim, Radioboxes will be set up in libraries in the suburb of Abidjan, librarians will be trained to use them and produce radio content. With the children and the schools they work with, these libraries will gather, record, promote and broadcast stories to share with as many people as possible.

The first recordings have been broadcast in June 2021 on RFI radio station.
