WHAT’S HAPPENING
THE MANY DIFFERENT TONES OF NOW.

NANTES, CHAMBÉRY, BOBIGNY | 2021

What’s happening?

What happened to us over the last 12 months, what words do we have to express it? In Chambéry, Nantes, Bobigny, or more specifically, in the Blé d’or nursing home (Chambéry), the Bottière community center (Nantes), and the acting class at the MC93 (Bobigny), Aurélie Charon, Alexandre Plank and Patrick Boucheron pass a microphone around to collect the answers of the people they meet. Mohamed, Clotilde, Odette, Gaston, Rim, Robespierre, and Sami. They share with us what it feels like to be stuck in a room, to do the splits, they talk about freedom and the wind blowing through the leaves. We hear their wisdom, their anger, an old-time juke-box and many birds chirping.

IN SHORT…
THE PROJECT

Three directors of state-subsidized theaters, Catherine Blondeau (Le Grand T, Théâtre de Loire-Atlantique in Nantes), Marie-Pia Bureau (Théâtre Malraux, Scène Nationale de Chambéry Savoie) and Hortense Archambault (MC93- Maison de la Culture de Seine Saint Denis, in Bobigny) got together and asked Aurélie Charon, Alexandre Plank and Patrick Boucheron to investigate on What’s happening..

This podcast takes fleeting conversations with various people to raise this very question – whether it be individually or collectively – and it recreates, through sound, the vast social interactions that theaters craft daily, both inside and outside of the building itself; if they don’t have to close down because of a pandemic, that is.

This is the inception of a mini-podcast series on various, delicate moments, where theater, generations and ideas collide.
